A Case of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Developed after Radiotherapy in Hodgkin's Disease

Abstract
|

|
The survival rate of Hodgkin's disease has been remarkably improved with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. But the risk or incidence of secondary cancers including leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and lung cacer was significantly increased.
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is relatively common in patients with Hodgkin's disease receiving both radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
We experienced a case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma developed after radiotherapy for Hodgkin's disease.
A 68-year-old man was admitted due to right cervical mass on Jan, 1991. He had a history of radiation therapy for Hodgkin's disease(mixed cellularity, stage I) in Sep, 1985. After 5 years and 4 months, he developed lymph node enlargement of neck
and
inguinal area.
The biopsy of lymph node revealed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(diffuse large cell, stage IIIB).
He was treated with MACOP-B chemotherapy resulted in complete remission. Now he is good health without evidence of recurrence during 6 months.
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma should be considered and confirmed and confirmed pathologically when relapse is suspected in long term survivors of Hodgkin's disease.
